This person will also promote different musical styles in worship.
Principal Functions:
Oversees all aspects of the church's music programs.
Plans and implements special music programs.
Collaborates with the minister in worship service planning.
Demonstrates excellence in choral directing, organ and piano performance, sight-reading, open-score playing and improvisation.
Is willing to work within the framework of the Presbyterian order of worship.

Job
Responsibilities:
1.
Works with the minister to prepare music for the worship on Sundays as well as special services throughout the year.
2.
Develop an appropriate music budget subject to Session approval.
3.
Holds rehearsals for the choir (presently on Wednesdays at 3:
30).
4.
Secures guest musicians as needed.
5.
Oversees maintenance of the church instruments.
6.
Maintains music library, One License, and orders new music as needed.
7.
Attends weekly staff meetings.
8.
Attends meetings of the Worship and Music Committee.
9.
Consider forming a bell choir and children's choir.
Position is for 20 hours per week with a salary range of $22,000 - $26,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience.
Reports to the Head of Staff (minister).
Our church:
Our mission statement is To be and make disciples of Jesus Christ, who love God and their neighbor Tryon Presbyterian celebrated its 100th anniversary this year.
The congregation is more regional than the local neighborhood.
We have 252 members with 120 regularly attending and 30 on average live streaming.
Church staff include the Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, Director of Educational Ministries, Church Administrator, and Director of Digital Ministries.
Tryon Presbyterian Church Organ The church's Moller organ has four divisions playable from a three manual and pedal movable console located in the choir loft chancel area.
Swell and Positive divisions are located in four tiers behind the reredos.
The exposed Great and Pedal divisions are located on each side of the reredos.
Pipes are also located on platforms behind rock walls on each side of the choir loft.
In 2017 the organ was completely refurbished and the new (movable) organ console was added.
The Swell Division pipes were removed and replaced by all digitals.
To date, there are now 19 ranks of existing pipes and 33 new digital ranks for a total of 1,669 pipes.
The organ also has a sequencer with the capability to record a player's performance and replay the organ automatically.
This renovation was completed by Cornell Zimmer Organ Builders from Denver, NC.
